Account opening documentation

All you need for your International Banking application

We want to make it as simple as possible for you to complete your International Banking application. All you need to do is get your documents ready to send – we can’t open your account without them, so here’s what you need to do.

If you haven’t yet applied for an account or are half way through your application, you can finish it or start it here.

What we need

We’ll need you to send us three things:

  1. Certified copy of identity document (for each applicant)

In most cases this will be your current, valid passport although some other types of ID are acceptable. There’s more information and a template in the postal application guide [PDF, 1MB]

  2. Certified copy or original proof of address (for each applicant)

Your proof of address will normally be a bank or building society statement or a utility bill. See the Application Guide for more details.

  3. Your signed Client Agreement

If your account location is London, use the PLC Client Agreement Form [PDF, 172KB]

For account locations of Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man use the PLC (Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man) Client Agreement Form [PDF, 809KB]

What to do next

The Application Guide sets out what you’ll need to do next. Please see the supporting short video below, which explains the best way to get your documentation to us. If you still have questions after watching the video and reading through the guide, don’t worry. We’re here to help and make sure you understand what you need to do.
